The pressure rating of the filter should be determined based on the maximum pressure anticipated within the filtration pipeline.
Selection of Mesh Size:
The primary consideration is the particle size of the impurities to be intercepted, determined according to the specific process requirements of the fluid flow. The particle sizes capable of being intercepted by various mesh specifications can be found in the table below titled "Filter Screen Specifications."
Filter Material:
Typically, the material of the filter is selected to match that of the connected process piping. However, depending on specific service conditions, materials such as cast iron, carbon steel, low-alloy steel, or stainless steel may be considered.
Calculation of Filter Pressure Loss:
For water filters, under standard rated flow velocity calculations, the pressure loss typically ranges from 0.52 to 1.2 kPa.
